Often confused with their plecostomus cousins, ancistrus do not grow larger than 11cm in length, making them an excellent fish for smaller aquariums.

When algae populations are low, plant-based food should be provided to feed them.

Although they feed on algae, they do not attack plants , unless the plants are already in a state of decomposition.

The specimens we sell are approximately 5-6cm.
