Seachem Flourish Excel

Flourish Excel™ is a source of bioavailable organic carbon. All plants require a carbon source. This is normally obtained from CO2, but can also be derived from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intermediates). The use of CO2 injection or Flourish Excel™ does not necessarily negate the use of the other. As the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building upon them occur simultaneously, a substantial benefit can be obtained from using Flourish Excel™ alone or in conjunction with CO2. The combination is particularly ideal for situations where continuing to add CO2 could result in dangerously low pH levels. Flourish Excel™ also possesses iron-reducing properties that promote the ferrous status of iron (Fe+2), which is more readily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe+3). Furthermore, Flourish Excel™ is an excellent method for eliminating algae such as BBA. When dosing Flourish Excel™, particular attention must be paid to the concentration used, as it can be lethal to both fish and invertebrates.
