Sometimes, plants surprise us by suddenly deviating from their normal growth pattern.
This is called a mutation, and Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini' is a good example of this. Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini' originated from the general production of Lobelia cardinalis. It is characterized by its beautiful light green leaves that are closer together than in the original Lobelia, and it is also significantly smaller, hence the addition of 'Mini' to the plant's name.
Growth is low and dense , as the plant branches out willingly , even without pruning. Furthermore, the miniature version rarely forms the long, upright shoots that characterize Lobelia cardinalis.
It is easily propagated by planting the cut buds in the undergrowth. Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini' becomes more compact in good light conditions and with added CO2 , but also thrives well without it .
