Gratiola viscidula is native to North America and is relatively new to the aquatic hobby. The somewhat "spiny" appearance of its submerged form makes it very distinctive and easily recognizable.
It is quite easy to grow and prefers good light. With regular pruning, it can be kept quite low, almost like a carpet, but it will also do well as a cushion plant in the middle of the soil.
Each stem is approximately 1-2 cm wide and can reach over 10 cm in height. The stem branches and spreads willingly, giving the plant a very dense appearance.
