This red variety of Cryptocoryne undulata grows wild in the rivers of Sri Lanka.
It is an easy plant to grow, tolerant of very different conditions in an aquarium. The plant's appearance will depend in part on these conditions.
Low light and nutrient levels will produce a relatively tall, slow-growing, brownish-green plant. Higher light and nutrient levels, combined with the addition of CO2, will cause the plant to grow considerably faster, producing shorter, reddish-brown leaves.
