Echinodorus 'Red Diamond'

Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' appeared in Ukraine and is likely a cross between Echinodorus horemanni 'Red' and Echinodorus 'Barthii'. This hybrid Echinodorus is an attractive plant with ruby-red, sword-shaped leaves, 15 to 25 cm long.

Unlike many other Echinodorus species, Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' remains moderately sized (20 to 30 cm wide), making it extremely suitable as a solitary plant, even in small aquariums. Increasing nutrients in the substrate results in more abundant growth, while favorable light conditions promote the formation of ruby-red leaves.
